Thank you for visiting legsforall.com. The known prosthetic work of LEGS is now LIMBS International and retains the same mission, values, and leadership. From 2004-2010, the LEGS prosthetic project was under the auspices of LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas. The LEGS M1 Knee, which is now referred to as the LIMBS Knee, was derived from engineering research at LeTourneau University under the direction of Dr. Roger Gonzalez, professor of Biomedical and Mechanical Engineering.
In 2011, LIMBS International became an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit entity and acquired the intellectual property related to the M1 knee and its method and means of manufacturing from LeTourneau University. This transition to LIMBS was necessary to accommodate the need for dedicated full-time staff to handle the growing demand for the LIMBS Knee around the world.
LIMBS International is dedicated to continuing to serve amputees around the world by providing highly functional, affordable, prosthetic components. We will continue the model of teaching and local fabrication in the developing world and will pursue new avenues to disseminate the LIMBS Knee around the world in greater numbers.
Please visit the LIMBS International site at www.limbsinternational.org to learn more about the exciting work we are engaged in around the globe. If you supported the LEGS program in the past, we ask for your continued support in this transition period, so we may continue to help amputees around the world in greater volume.
